GUTIERREZ & DANIEL KORN — Investments in Internet infrastructure throughout Latin America are beginning to pay off, particularly as consumers, businesses, government agencies, health care providers and educational institutions use Internet connections to access innovative cloud computing services. Indeed, the market for cloud computing in Latin America is expected to grow at an annual rate of 70 percent from 2012-16. This is not surprising, as cloud computing enables users with an Internet connection to affordably access a level of computing power that until recently was available only to companies with large IT budgets and in- house expertise.5 Most importantly, this technology has enormous potential to create new jobs, drive down costs, and promote social inclusion.
